So I got my Mike Smith's, I got my 740cc kit, got the reprogrammed ecu in, Alex pulled the engine again, got my bling all on there. Things are going fine with this 2nd engine pull. The update phone calls constantly make me nervous because I feel like good news, and my Z, can't possibly last forever.... So, all is well, as I stated, and I get a call from Alex this weekend with the worst news ever. Both my brand new turbos are said to be blown. Less than 100 miles on them. Part of the reason we did this 2nd pull was to replace a few small oil leaks coming off the turbos and then 2nd, to upgrade a few parts.... We're finding that with the engine still out, the turbos won't hold pressure past 10psi, and will still leak oil. I can shell out $1k to replace the internals of both turbos (rebuild) but they are brand f*ckin new, so I don't want to do that! How in the hell does this happen to me? I did some reading in the search and it seems like another member 90vgtt or something, had a similar problem with brand new blown turbos at around 350 miles. I bought these brand new from a vendor who doesn't do as much business on this forum, but the turbos were defenitely, in fact brand new. They were actually one of the first sets around for this car, now they are all over the place. Getting replacements from the vendor is NOT gonna happen, so now what do I do? I know I can still drive with them, and have them smoke or whatever. But if you guys have any input as to why this happens, or what I can expect, I appreciate it. I'm new to the TT side, so help is always appreciated. Yes, I will eventually replace the turbos, and just go bigger, but for now, what can I expect? I already told Alex fuck it and install them anyways, cause we don't have anymore time and I don't have anymore money.... I'm sure I could find some more info searching but it's difficult when you're at work and have other things to do. I will do a more extensive search tonight when I get home. This post is for advice and input that I can check back on while I'm working.... Thanks in advance.
